Fulcrum Adds Certificate Prep and Renewal Batches; Agency Price Depends on the Contract

Fulcrum said its Certificates workflow was live on September 23. In a September 28 release, the company detailed what an agency can put to work: preparation from emailed requests, checks against policy documents and batches for reissuance at renewal. Account managers still review and approve certificates before issuance.

That gives brokerages with recurring certificate requests a specific service capability to evaluate. The price requires a separate decision: Fulcrum’s public terms leave fees and subscription length to the customer agreement. They do not specify a per-certificate price or establish whether every existing subscription includes the workflow.

From request to approval

According to Fulcrum, the workflow reads a forwarded request against the client’s policy, identifies applicable endorsements and flags coverage demands the policy cannot satisfy. It then prepares a certificate for an account manager to review. At renewal, it can prepare certificates in batches for reissuance, with approval still part of the process.

In its September 23 product post, Fulcrum says a forwarded request usually yields a prepared certificate in under a minute. That is the company’s description of preparation time, not a promise that every request will be reviewed and issued within a minute.

What the agreement must settle

Fulcrum’s terms, last updated May 8, say that unless the customer agreement provides otherwise, fees are non-cancellable and non-refundable and invoices are due within 30 days. Either party can terminate for a material breach left uncured for 30 days; that provision does not give a customer a general right to cancel at any time.

An agency pricing the workflow should establish in its agreement whether Certificates is included in its subscription, what billing unit applies, whether there is a minimum and how long the commitment lasts. Fulcrum has described the work it offers to take on; the agency-specific contract determines what that scope costs.
